"First, Stop Playing God"

-a talk by Rabbi Rami Shipiro

The Gospel of Luke: "We had hoped..."

Tuesdays, October 19 - November 9, 4:00-5:45 p.m.

In this 4-session online workshop, we will explore the Gospel of Luke, a story that remembers what “we had hoped” (Lk 24:21) would finally happen.

As they did last year with the Gospel of Mark, Pam Faro (Broomfield, CO), a professional biblical storyteller who has performed and taught around the globe, will tell key parts of Luke’s story; and Richard Swanson (Sioux Falls, SD), professor at Augustana University and the director of the Provoking the Gospel Storytelling Project, will guide our exploration of Pam’s performances. We will experience the story together, and we will think together about how hope is possible in a brutal and disappointing world.

More info and Register HERE

Cost is $180(USD) per person (special rates available for students, retired clergy, and a church staff group rate).

"(Their) course has transformed the way I read and present scripture"

(Nancy Eckles, Interim Pastor, Trinity Lutheran Church, Miller, SD)

October 21 and 22

The Center for EcoJustice at the Iliff School of Theology is pleased to announce its next conference – to be held virtually on October 21 and 22, 2021. The conference will focus on the intersection of environmental racism and immigration. What impact does shifting climate have on populations whose lands are being devastated? Forced to leave, what impact does shifting people have upon overstrained world resources?

For the tentative schedule, and presenters, visit the conference webpage.

For more information about the conference, please contact: ecojustice@iliff.edu.

“Missing from most conversations concerning the current environmental crises is the role racism plays on those most affected by the degradation of the land. Also, missing from most discussions on our current immigration crisis is the role failed crops and droughts are having in the global south due to changing climate. This year we are focused on the intersection of climate change and immigration.”
